Submission Guidelines
The Millpond Review accepts submissions of poetry, short fiction, short non-fiction, and photography. Send us your wild and weird, your happy and sad. Send us the poem that came howling into your ear at 2am or the short story you’ve been toiling at for ages.
We are open to all genres and styles; we just ask that you follow the guidelines below for the genre you are submitting to. All submissions should be sent as a pdf or Word document to the respective genre editor (see specific guidelines below). In your submission file please also make sure to include your name and email address. Please also provide a short (up to 50 word) third-person biography. Your biography might include what you are studying or currently working on. You might also include things like hobbies, pets, and your favorite thing to do on the weekends.
You may submit to more than one genre; however we ask that you send them as separate submissions. You are allowed only one submission per genre.
Simultaneous submissions are allowed. This means that you can send us work and at the same time send that work to other journals, contests, or opportunities. We just ask that you let us know if the work is accepted elsewhere. We will promptly send you back a big congratulations.

Genre Specifics
Poetry

You may include up to 5 poems in your submission. Each poem should be titled and begin on a separate page. There are no length limits, however, you may want to aim for around 1-3 pages.

Poems can be in any style or form.

Prose (Fiction or Creative Nonfiction)

We accept short fiction and creative nonfiction up to 3,000 words. This normally means one short story or essay. However, you can also send up to three micro-fiction pieces or micro-essays as long as the total word count does not exceed 3,000 words. You can also send us a section or snippet of a longer work, just make sure that it can stand on its own.

Photography

You may submit up to five photographs as jpeg files. You should also include your name, email, and a short biography in the body of your email. Photographs should be high resolution in order to best appear on our website.
